linking data in one sheet to another?

I have two worksheets in the same workbook, sheet1 and sheet2. I would like the data in certain cells of sheet2 to appear in sheet1. When I type = in sheet1 then click the cell in sheet2 that i want to appear in sheet1 it show 0 or #value! , depending on the type of data I want linked. The data I want linked are dates, names, monied amounts and such, not formulas.
If anybody has any suggestions i would appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    KP

    Hi!

Strange. What you describe always works for me.

As a double check, try typing ='Sheet1'!A1 in cell A1 of sheet2. Then put something in Sheet1 A1. Does it come through?

    Alf,
I tried typing it in as you described but i still get the same output. I am able to link the way i described in my original post with some of the cells but not all. The cells I link that have names returns 0. The cells I link that have dollar amounts returns #VALUE!.
Could this be caused by a way i formated the cell or worksheet?
If there is a way i could post my spreadsheet so you can take a look let me know.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
