    Excel tab heights got smaller

    Hi,

Around two days ago I noticed that the height of my Excel tabs got smaller. As you can see from the below image, the tab called 'Master List' looks like it has a bit of its top cut off. I use the 2021 Student and Home version

I have searched the internet, but haven't found an answer.

    Can anyone help ?

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum .

Have you changed your monitor resolution or set it to something other than 100%?

Re: Excel tab heights got smaller

No, I haven't changed any of my monitor settings (15.6inch laptop)

One day before the tab heights changed, I was creating a user form in VBA, where I was adjusting the height of text boxes and labels, but I don't think that
would cause Excel to change the spreadsheet tab heights

I have also installed the latest updates for Excel and also Windows 11 after the tabs heights got smaller, but that hasn't fixed it

Re: Excel tab heights got smaller

I'm on the latest versions and am not seeing the same as you - mine are all normal, so it's not Excel per se. Sorry - can't help any further.

You could attach a workbook, then we can at least check that it's not the workbook at fault.

Re: Excel tab heights got smaller

I have attached the workbook. It contains a number of macros that help me make efficient shopping/grocery lists, but these macros have been there for years,
so it probably won't be macros causing the issue

    Thanks

The tab height looks normal on my screen, even after I ran all the macros.

I haven’t run any macros (I’m on an iPad) but the tabs look fine/normal to me.

    Right-click on any worksheet tab.
    Click on ‘Tab Height’.
That option does not appear on my menu. Nor here:
Click on the “View” tab in the ribbon
Click on “Page Layout” in the “Workbook Views” section
    Right-click on any worksheet tab
    Select “Tab Color”
Choose “More Colors” at the bottom of the drop-down menu
The tab height option is located under “Advanced” settings

If it is, someone has gone to a lot of trouble to create a lot of content.

    Like I said, I couldn't test it.

Happy for you to remove it if you think it's fake or whatever.

Re: Excel tab heights got smaller

There's certainly no option for tab height under Options | Advanced that I can see.

There is a lot of advertising on the page. My working hypothesis is that they generated bogus content with minimal effort to post a page that generates ad revenue.

Have you seen OzGrid? Sam (the owner) freely admits that he can't afford to run the forum as a charity, so uses ads to help pay for it. Hypotheses are just that: reality is, we really don't know.

MrExcel has its fair share of ads, too!

Re: Excel tab heights got smaller

Here is more text I randomly selected from this site, bolding mine. This site is absolute garbage.
It's important to note that the ISNUMBER function only checks for numeric values, so it won't work with cells that contain text or other types of data. Additionally, it's worth noting that the function is not case sensitive, meaning that whether you enter a number in uppercase or lowercase, it will still be recognized as a number.
I wouldn't mind the ads if the content had any value.

Re: Excel tab heights got smaller

    Hi All,

Upon opening my Excel this morning, the issue has been fixed. I didn't do anything, it just got fixed by itself.

I guess there was something wrong with my laptop. So, if anyone gets this issue in the future, just wait 5 days or so, and it will fix itself !

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and comments
