Locking sheet and drop down list

I have a protected sheet (sheet and workbook), formulas are locked and hidden. I have a column with a drop down list, it works OK, selections are available but once selected I can't delete the selection, only cycle through the list. Is there any way to allow the selection to be deleted?

I have no trouble deleting column D when that sheet is protected. The cells in column D are unlocked, so I don't understand why you can't delete the response.

I cannot reproduce the problem with the sample file. Unprotected, no problem. Protected, still no problem. I can select Yes, No, or blank from the Drop Down List but I can still delete any of the entries I have made.

And how about the sample workbook? Does that still work for you when the sheet is protected?

    Locked cells? Or unlocked cells?

That has fixed it. I don't understand why though as the cells are not locked.

You're welcome. Thanks for the rep.

I can't guess without seeing the workbook that has the problem.
