How to add or enable Microsoft Copilot in Microsoft Excel 365

    Hi,
I keep reading many articles about such a feature and how it will make life much easier.
I googled for how to enable it or add it to Excel but can not figure it out.
I've even tried the add-in page from Excel itself but no luck.
So, please, may someone help a foolish guy like myself and let me know how to enable Microsoft Copilot in Microsoft Excel 365?
    Thanks

You have to purchase it, so presumably once you've paid, you'll get it added automatically or there'll be some downlod link or other.

But I've already paid for the subscription, and my license is:
    Microsoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2405 Build 16.0.17628.20006) 64-bit.
    Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise.
    Isn't this the required one?

Maybe have a read of this:

How to set up Copilot for Microsoft 365

Before setting up Copilot for Microsoft 365, organizations should make sure that they meet Microsoft's prerequisites for using the tool. It's available as an add-on product with Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 plans and has a 300-seat minimum. In other words, customers must have at least 300 E3 or E5 licenses in their organization in order to implement Copilot for Microsoft 365.

@daliye: thanks for the question. I've wondered about this myself.

@Ali: thanks for the link. Sounds complicated. I am so glad I'm retired. I did a degree in Maths and Computer Science and spent around 40 years working in IT before working for myself as an Excel/VBA Consultant. Now it all flies way over my head

I am sorry if I went off-topic, but if your time allows give an idea about the right starting point for the VBA mastering that would be awesome.

Re: How to add or enable Microsoft Copilot in Microsoft Excel 365

You're welcome. Thanks for the rep.

I started out as a programmer many years ago using RPG2, COBOL, and Assembler, so that helped. Then I started using Excel and reached a reasonable standard, or so I thought at the time. I started to "play" with VBA and arranged a short in-house course for me and my team. From there, I started recording macros for tasks at work, asking questions on forums, and reading lots of books (most of which I still have though I haven't looked at them in a long time). Then it was a case of "more of the same" and practice.

I've learned a lot from asking and answering questions on various forums though I only frequent this one now; it's always seemed a bit friendlier than some and you could always upload sample files which made it easier to get and give answers.

The newer versions of Excel have provided new interest and challenges.

That said, there are lots of areas where my knowledge is limited or not existent. I get by with pivot tables and charts but I know there is much scope for improvement. And Power Pivot, Power Query, whatever is beyond me. I just can't get my head round it. Probably more because I haven't had a need. And, it has to be said, there are areas of VBA where I have never ventured.

Now Google and You Tube are your friends, though, if you like books, anything by John Walkenbach would be my recommendation.

    Thanks a lot.
This is a nice path to go through.
Yes, this forum is my best preference compared to others.
Books are my best way to learn.
I will google what you recommended.
    I am much appreciated indeed.

You'll find lots of cheap copies on eBay and even Amazon.

Bear in mind you don't necessarily need the latest version. Not a lot has changed in the basics of VBA in a long time.

Search for John Walkenbach Excel VBA Programming.

    @AliGW ... Thanks a lot, done!

@TMS ... It seems that this author wrote many books, which makes me excited to go through them.
I used to get books from archive.org as they scan them and you can borrow them for a couple of weeks and return them, I read them using Adobe Digital Edition.
