Selecting Blanks & Deselecting Blanks in Worksheet

    Hi guys,

This is an issue i seem to be having. So the sheet i am using has a lot of hidden cells first of all, i think this is part of the issue. I don't want certain cells to appear.
So for instance say i have rows of Quantity numbers down the page 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9

Now if i deselect the blanks to view the filled in data that's fine. When i go to re-select the blanks some of the data that was there goes missing. so it might end up as 1,3,5,6,7,8,9 from the above line.

    How can i rectify this?

    Hope i explained it enough..

    Any thoughts appreciated.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook (yellow banner: HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK). Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. The sample layout accurately matches that of your real data. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

Re: Selecting Blanks & Deselecting Blanks in Worksheet

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with hidden cells affecting the visibility and selection of data in your Excel sheet. Here are some steps you can take to rectify this issue:

    Unhide Hidden Rows and Columns:

Check if any rows or columns are hidden unintentionally. To unhide them:
Select the rows or columns surrounding the hidden area.
Right-click on the selected rows or columns.
Choose "Unhide" from the context menu.
    Clear Filters:

If you're using filters and have deselected certain cells, this might affect the visibility of data when reselecting the blanks. Clear any filters applied to the data:
Select any cell within your data range.
Go to the "Data" tab in the Excel ribbon.
Click on the "Clear" button in the "Sort & Filter" group, then select "Clear Filter" to remove any filters.
    Review Conditional Formatting:

Conditional formatting rules may also affect the visibility of cells based on their contents. Check if any conditional formatting rules are applied to your data and adjust them as needed.
    Check for Data Grouping:

If your data is grouped, expanding or collapsing groups may affect the visibility of cells. Ensure that all groups are expanded to view all data.
Use "Go To Special" to Select Visible Cells Only:

If you want to select only visible cells (including blanks) in a range, you can use the "Go To Special" feature:
    Select the range of cells.
Press Ctrl + G to open the "Go To" dialog box.
    Click on the "Special..." button.
Choose "Visible cells only" and click "OK." This will select only the visible cells in the range, including any blanks.
Consider Removing Hidden Rows or Columns:

If certain rows or columns are consistently hidden and causing issues, you may consider permanently removing them from your dataset if they're not needed.
By following these steps, you should be able to rectify the issue with hidden cells affecting the visibility and selection of data in your Excel sheet. If the problem persists, please provide more specific details about your data and any applied formatting or filtering for further assistance.
