C+P Dates from one Excel to another

I use Excel as a template that converts into XML, as such it needs to formatted 100% spot on.

I have this unusual issue whereby if dates are manually inputted into the Excel, it's all good - formats as DD/MM/YYYY fine and converts to XML in the format I need.

However if dates are copied and paste valued from another source, they don't seem to format correctly. Even though the date format is retained in English (United States), they still don't seem to be right, and even align differently to manually inputted dates. They go left, whereas manually types ones go right.

What am I missing here?

The fact that the copy pasted dates would seem to be pasting as text, but who knows? Maybe if you provide some sample data we can see.

Where is IE? Which version of Excel do you have?
