    Cheque Printing Excel Sheet

    Hi,

I've been trying to make an excel sheet that will help me print cheques in my office, but I'm not sure where to start with the page setup to get the desired output. I have the cheque measurement and would be grateful if someone could help me set up the page.

For your convenience, I've attached a picture of a cheque leaf with measurements as well as the file I've been working on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Mehdi

Here is something that will work, but I leave it to you to finish the configuration. This application is NOT metric. Measurements are in inches. There are two ways to fix this, you can go with inches or your can play with constant, ToPoints. Right now it is set for 144 points to the inch.

Here is how to use the program. Select any cell in the same row as the check you want to print. Then click on print check.

Play with the numbers in the green table to find the appropriate position (top and left) and size (height and width) for the cells. I recommend taking off the borders in the black table for a clean print. Note that the date is "stubbed out." It is printed but too small to see.

Columns D onward are calculated based on what you put in columns A, B, and C.

I advise setting the widths of the black table to some final width before playing with the numbers in the green table.

One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

Thank you for your assistance; it appears to be a fun game to play with. I'd prefer to experiment with inches rather than the constant. But one thing I'm having trouble with is hiding the borders in the black table for a clean print - is the black table you're referring to from the sheet called "check data" or is there something else?

For your understanding, I'd like to get rid of these lines in clear printing; how do I do that?

Yes the black table is the "check register."

The lines are there because the application is taking a picture of the cells. If you fill the cells with a white background the lines will go away. This is a good "work around." If I get the chance, I'll put in an intermediate step that will allow you to have a "regular looking" table and then copy the check information to a temp area and copy that to the check image area.

It appears to be a quick fix, and it worked perfectly! Thanks!

I'm looking forward to seeing the intermediate version you mentioned. However, I had one question: are the numbers in the green table for the parameters, such as top / left / height / width, in inches?

And I need to do the page setup based on the check leaf dimension, correct?

OK, here is a cleaner version. This turned out to be a little easier than I anticipated.

The check register is on the Check Data Sheet.

I moved to green table to a new sheet called interim. This is the sheet that has the interim image to print. It also has a "scratch calculation" in Cell O1. Leave this alone.

Fill in the green table with the numbers you apparently already figured out. Note that Date is now missing. It isn't needed on the check, so I left it out of the interim table. You can still play with the widths of the column on the interim table.

Once you get everything settled down on the interim sheet, you can hide it.

The Check image is still the same.

The numbers in the green table are inches.

    Re: Cheque Printing Excel Sheet

Thank you for doing this; the worksheet now appears to be much cleaner and easier to use. Even though you stated that the date is no longer present, I can see that the date fields are now operational. However, if I format column "B" with a currency format from the sheet called "Check Data," which should have a coma with increase/decrease decimals, it does not reflect on the sheet called "Check Image," which worked perfectly fine in your previous version. How do I solve this issue?

Attach your most recent copy (or sample) and I will take a look at it.

I believe the attachment is missing; could you please check at your convenience?
