    Locking selected cells

I created a simple diagram using a few cells in Excel. I want to be able to make another diagram below it but when I adjust the column width at the top of the sheet, I don't want it affecting my 1st diagram, only my 2nd one. How can I do that?

    Hi
Select the first diagram and right click. Choose Format Chart Area. In Format Chart Area choose the size and properties and then Properties. Check the "Move but don't size with cells" option

    Re: Locking selected cells

So the area I am trying to not be affected by column width changes is not technically a chart. It's a collection of cells across 8 columns and 6 rows. When I select and right click I only have the option to "format cells" and I see no option to lock in place. When I opened your sample file I had to select one of the graphs to select the Format Chart Area. Is there another solution?

Actually I don't understand what you really want. Post a sample sheet with the structure and what you call "diagram".
If you ask to change the width of cells from the same column this is not possible. The cells in Excel are objects with different properties than a textbox or other such objects that floating over. The cell is a part of a column and if you change the column width for a cell that will
affect all cells in that column(similar for rows)

    Re: Locking selected cells

Ok I understand, I thought there was some way to create a table from cells on one part of the sheet with certain column widths, lock it in place so changing widths would only affect another table I'm creating from cells but it sounds like this is not possible. I guess I will have to copy and paste a picture diagram.
