Blank Save As window when saving spreadsheet

    Hi

I've got a user that has keeps getting a blank Save As screen when trying to save a new or exisiting spreadsheet. PSaveAs_Issue.JPG

I've tried running Excel in safe mode and also reset all the explorer settings and still the issue remains.

I don't want to go down the route of re-installing Office just yet.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Thanks
    Jimmy

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Re: Blank Save As window when saving spreadsheet

    HI Special-K

The first link refers to opening a blank document and the 2nd link doesn't have a solution. The issue I'm having is that when this user tries to save a spreadsheet it gives the blank Save As window as shown in the link of my first post

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks
    Jimmy

Re: Blank Save As window when saving spreadsheet

    hi everybody,
In case there are others, like me, who have experienced this problem (in Office Products) I 99% believe this to be a 'bug' in Office.
When running a Macro to import a database into excel, I constantly found that the 'Save-As' screen to have no data. I ran the Macro under numerous conditions and actually found, that it always occurred after 19 lines of data. So I ran 18 lines of data multiple times and no problem. I believe that there is a background setting in Office somewhere that tracks files and directories for use in the Save-as screen. This Global, Indicator, Switch or whatever it may be gets confused or lost, and so the problem remains until you exit the application and reload it (thus resetting the Indicator).
Having spent 40 years testing software, I know how hard it is to track down something as obscure as this.
Other than rewriting the Macro code differently (to avoid the loop) I found that the F12 button (save as) still works and keeps the Users happy. Cheers

P.S. it could also be a timeout issue. My slow machine ran out after 19 lines but on a fast machine it might be better !
