Question How to cell reference to a named cell

We have a spreadsheet of projects (Tracker) which have several stages within the project lifecycle for ease of reference these are Submitted, Awarded, In Delivery and Closed and are selected using a drop down. We have a One Pager document (an overview of the project) where the project status is cell referenced to the relevant line in the tracker. As projects close and new projects are added the integrity of the cell referencing is poor. The Tracker can accommodate a couple of lines changing, but is there a way to cell reference a named cell so regardless of where it is in the Tracker spreadsheet the data integrity in the One Pager isn't lost?

    Welcome to the forum.

Are you really using the old Excel 2010?

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook. Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

Thank you for responding so quickly! I am using )365 MSO Ver2208! I have attached two very simplified versions of our documents, we deal with hundreds of projects and although we can add new projects to the end of the document, I want to ensure data integrity of project status in the One Pager. Thanks again for your help.

    1. Please update your forum profile NOW!
    2. Before I open anything, are these workbooks desensitised? Just thinking GDPR ...
    3. Is this a VBA question?

Re: How to cell reference to a named cell

There is just made-up data in the spreadsheets so no GDPR issues. The Project Tracker password is pms (apologies I thought I'd removed it)
Not familiar with VBA but I don't think so, the question is 'can cell referencing be done to a named cell rather than the location of the cell?'
I'd like to cell reference the Project Stage in the One Pager e.g. 'In Delivery' to the Project Status for the relevant project in the Project Tracker.
Apologies, I've never used this sort of forum before

    Is this what you wanted:

    =VLOOKUP(RNo,'[Project Tracker (2).xlsm]Project Info'!$A:$B,2,FALSE)

in O5 of the one pager???
