Row Numbers when Filtering

Hello my friends. I have a question. I need to sort a spreadsheet with over $16k entries by state. When I do this the row numbers are messed up even when copying and pasting in another spreadsheet. I have to export these to csv 500 at a time with the rows off I can't tell if I have 500 or not. Is their anyway to fix this.

I have already tried deleting all rows that contain other states it didn't work. Excel 365 desktop, windows

Maybe use a formula to calculate the row number.

Assuming that you meant sorting and not filtering (these are different and would require different formulas), try something like:
=ROWS($1:1)

Then drag it down the column.
