    Question Prize Distribution Pool help

I am trying to come up with a formula/sheet that distributes points to different placement of partipants. So the person that comes in first gets the largest % share, 2nd gets next largest and so on depending on how many # of partipants I have. Need something where I can plug in a different # of partipants and it auto changes the % of each placement depending on how many there are. Is this possible? Thank you Excel Wizards.

That is certainly possible, but first I would like to know how you want the percentages to be distributed.
    In case of 4 participants 40% 30% 20% 10% meet your criteria. but also 53%, 27%, 13%, 7%. and so on,

Thanks for your reply, the first one is more along the lines of what I am looking for. I like the aspect that every place gets points but if possible how to give the 1st place a higher % and rest of the top placements? I'm not sure if this works mathematically but would like to see if it is possible

In this case, a mathematical approach is possible, but it starts with indicating what you consider important in the distribution.
In other words, how to judge whether a given distribution is desirable or not.
Must there be a minimum percentage for the last prize (perhaps to be defined as a function of the number of prizes or number of participants), and so on and so on and so on.

It is also important to know which MS-off version you are using. (2021 or 365??). Excel 16.54 is something else.

    Re: Prize Distribution Pool help

All placements should get a percentage even if it is a fraction of a percent. I am currently using Excel 16.54. Also to give you an idea on a range that would be ideal, the winner should get at least 12ish% and the winner should get no more than 25ish%. I don't anticipate on ever having more than 100 subjects or participants if that helps this case.

A range between 40-60 participants seems like the average amount of participants that this will be used for.
