Function to insert a key sequence as if you're keying it

Hi,

Lets say instead of typing control + : to insert a date that doesn't change (because I want to have 1 cell insert a date based on the value of another cell, or be blank if the other cell is blank) and have it never change afterwards...and not familiar with vba's so that's not an option, unless that *is* what a vba is lol

Is there a way to make excel think you've typed a command..based on data from another cell?

So if A1 gets data input, B1 gets "today" put in because the function/command is literally hands-free control + :

If vba is only option, may need a very detailed step by step.

Building out a spreadsheet that does a lot of things on its own based on a limited number of inputs to eliminate errors

If you just want a fixed date stamp, rather than a time stamp, use Date instead of Now.

The code needs to go in the worksheet code module for the sheet you are date/time stamping.
