    Hidden links (or something)

In my quest to find where my hidden links are, I've deleted every single sheet from my workbook (created new blank one), deleted all Defined names, confirmed there are no hidden sheets, etc.
With all this, I'm still seeing a link and my file STILL tried to connect upon opening.

Oddly enough, I couldn't attach the file because it's too big? with literally zero data entered on one black Sheet? How can a spreadsheet have nothing but a single empty sheet and still be 1.9mgs?

    Any thoughts? So lost.

None that I can find. I've attached file (.zip). I honestly don't understand how this "empty" file can be so large.

    could be VERYHIDDENSHEETS
could go to the DEVELOPER Ribbon and then visual basic and check to see if there is a sheet marked as VERYHIDDEN which would only show in VBA.
You can also try searching for the link in your workbook

i dont see a file attached:

You could FIND & SELECT on home ribbon.
    Then select GO to special...
select Formulas and leave everything below it checked.

Se if that brings you anywhere

    @dosydos

file is .xlsm (but there are no macros that I see and the file size remains the same when saved as .xls)

Nothing found in the GO TO special attempt.

    Re: Hidden links (or something)

what about queries and connections maybe to Power query or something?

Are you married to this file? Can you just delete it and create a new file? Probably will be easier in the long run.

    Re: Hidden links (or something)

    No queries. No connections.

Unfortunately, I AM married to this file. What you see in the attachment is a much larger financial model (real estate) that has had everything I could find systematically deleted in an attempt to located what's going on. The original file is VERY complex and really can't be duplicated. I thought that I could take it apart sheet by sheet and after getting to the end, the link (and related file size) are still present.

Selection pane says "Picture3" but I don't know what to do with this info!

Not sure why there's no attachment. It shows that I uploaded a ZIP file

    Re: Hidden links (or something)

i know what your problem is which is causing your file to get enlarged/bloated in size:

I had this error way back in the day, probably in 2013 or so. For some reason excel starts creating and saving ridiculous amounts of custom cell styles.

Try downloading the XLStylesTool from Microsoft store.

If it works like it did back in the day, the program will scrub your selected file of unecessary Named ranges/custom cell styles without touching your actual data. I have not had to use this in a long time and it was on a much older version of Excel but it worked flawlessly.
