Conditional Formatting for a blank cell if another cell in the same row has anything in it

I'm trying to create a rule for conditional formatting for a range of cells from Column A and Column D through G.
If there is anything in Column B for that row AND that cell is blank I would like it highlighted. The problem I've been having while googling for the answer, is I'm getting confused with LENS, a lot of AND, and IF operations I don't think are necessary. The other problem I'm having is all of the 'solutions' I've seen only wants to work for a single column, say between B and just A. If there are gaps in some of the information, I only want those particular cells highlighted basically if they are missing information.

Attaching a pic of what I'm trying to do, hope it helps.

    Welcome to the Forum GooglingDidntHelp!

In the future please attach a file with sample data so we can test any solution we give you. It's easier to attach your Excel file than to take a screenshot and attach that. See yellow banner at the top of the page.

Hold down the SHIFT key and highlight columns A and D:G.
    Add this conditional formatting rule:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

If this doesn't work for you attach the file that you showed above and I can install the rule for you.

That was a formula I did see already and it didn't work. I presume it has to be with referencing only two fields, B1 and A1. I tweaked the formula to B2 and A2 because of Headers, but in theory maybe that shouldn't matter.

Tweaking the formula is why it didn't work.

When you apply conditional formatting to an entire column, the rule must refer to row 1.

The header row doesn't have any blanks so the formatting will not apply to it.

I have reattached your file with the corrected formula, which gives the results you want.

Ah, now I understand why I was having so many difficulties.
Obviously I'm using a test spreadsheet when the actual spreadsheet I'm trying to apply this for is something else. The actual spreadsheet I was trying to adopt solutions from sites but I was actually trying to apply it to row 70.

The "Why?" was the most important thing here, so thank you!
