    Message "We can't update some of the links..." every time when opening a file with links.

    Hi,

    I have an xlsx file A that links to another file B, a simple xlookup formula (in one cell only). I save them and close file A. When I open it again I always get this message:
    ////////////////
    This workbook contains links to one or more external sources that could be unsafe.
    If you trust the links, update them to get the latest data. Otherwise, you can keep working with the data you have.
    ////////////////

    Regardless if I click "Update" or "Don't update" the value will be updated!

    If I click "Update", I always get this message:
    ////////////////
    We can't update some of the links in your workbook right now.
    You can continue without updating their values, or edit the links you think are wrong.
    ////////////////

    If I click "Edit links" the source to file B shows, the status says "Source is open" and I can go to file B if I click "Open source".

    If I save file A, close it and opens again the whole procedure will repeat.

    If file B is closed, and I open file A, then it will not be updated if I click "Don't update". If I click "Update" the value is updated, but I get the same message again as earlier "We can't update..."

    If I click "Edit link" and "Change source" and select file B again, save file A, close it and open again the procedure will repeat again...

    I think it may be a bug because it occurred in the last couple of days, and the user trlaing seams to be facing exactly the same problem quite recently in the tread /excel-general/1239553-error-we-cant-update-some-of-the-links-in-your-workbook-right-now.html (can't link, sorry).

    Does anybody know, have you seen this before? Grateful for all help.

    We'd need to see the file, or a sample that demonstrates the problem.

    Fast answers need visual help. Please read the yellow banner at the top of this page on how to attach a file.

    Could be a Named Range with a link to a file.

    I'm not able to recreate the problem. I must have a corrupt excel file. At least my reach out here in the forum pushed me in the right direction . Thanks.

    (Should this be set as solved now? Sorry, I'm new here...)
