    Combo Box Ghosting

I have created a workbook that has 4 combo box dropdowns on 1 worksheet, each dependant on the information from the one above, to help the end user narrow the choice. I used combo boxes rather than validation because I can adjust the size of the choices on screen. I have used this before in other workbooks with no issue. This new workbook seems to have an odd issue. Works fine for me, but for some users, when they click on the dropdown arrow, a second combo box seems to partially appear on top of the existing combo box and slightly to the left. More so just the dropdown arrow. It is this new arrow that needs to be clicked to have the choices appear. This is frustrating for the end user as they cant figure out why when they click the dropdown, they need to now click on this second arrow that is now to the left of the first arrow to have the selection. If they move their cursor off the combo box, the second “ghost” one disappears and they need to click on the first arrow again to get the second one to appear. This happens on all 4 combo boxes for those users.

Any suggestions of what could be wrong. I am using Office 365 MSO (16.0.13127.21734) 64-bit
I have attached a picture of this second "Ghost" arrow.

    Thank you

Please update your forum profile to reflect this.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

Thank you- been a while since I last needed some assistance. Profile has been updated. I will take me a bit of time to attach a workbook. The drop downs are all tied to named ranges that contain confidential info. I will try to scrub this and still maintain functionality as soon as I can, and post a sample.

The only thing I can suggest from the screenshot is that you have two combo boxes there - have you checked this?

Yes, I can confirm that there are only 1 (set of 4) combo boxes. THis happes on each one, so if that were the case there would be 8. Attachment 752368

I have attached a sample of the workbook. I have confirmed that this sample workbook has the same "Ghosting" as my original workbook with some users (but this is fine for me).

Thank you for this, and sorry it took so long to respond. I was waiting for one of my users to be able to test this potential solution. Unfortunatley this had no effect on the behavior of the combo box.

    Re: Combo Box Ghosting

It's weird. I tried the combobox in your file, and you are right there is a second "Ghost" arrow. I then turned on "Design Mode" on the Developer menu and moved the combobox > click Undo to move it back to its original position > turn off "Design Mode" > then the second "Ghost" arrow disappeared.
See if you can reproduce this behavior.
