How to disable "Document Properties and Personal Information" / "Author" save by default

    Hi,

By default, excel adds personal information to the workbook, which I know how to remove after I've created and saved the workbook via:
"File -> Info -> Check for Issues -> Inspect Document -> Inspect" and then remove "Document Properties and Personal Information".

However, this is really annoying to need to remember and do for every workbook I create.
How can I change this to be the default such that "Document Properties and Personal Information" (especially author) won't be saved when I create a new workbook?

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum.

I don't know of a way to do exactly what you want, however there may be a macro that can be written to make Excel change the authorship to something of your choice when you save the document. I don't know for sure, but suspect your query would be better placed in the VBA section - shall I move the thread for you?

Do you have Excel 2016? Or are you using a version of Excel for Mac? Please would you clarify in your profile? Thanks

    Hi, thanks for the replay.

    Regarding the version:
My version according to the About dialog is Microsoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (16.0...) so I enter Excel 16 in my profile.. Isn't it right?

    Regarding the author data:
I would prefer that the personal data would not be saved by default for any new document that I create but leave workbooks not created by me (for example downloaded from the web) as is.
If there's any way to do it without a macro I would prefer that..

The version you need in your profile is MS365, please.

If there's any way to do it without a macro I would prefer that.
I am almost 100% sure there is no way to do it without VBA, and it may not even be possible WITH VBA. Maybe another member knows differently. Let's wait and see.

In the meantime, please update your profile. Thanks.
