Cell Jump After Find and Replace

    Hi All,

I have a problem with cell "jumping" after I use the Find and Replace function.

When I replace a cell reference with another in a formula and click the Replace button, as soon as I do the cell indicator jumps to another cell I'm not working on instead of staying in the same cell I was editing. I have tried going to Options and unchecking the "After pressing enter..." option under the Advanced menu, but that doesn't work.

Any ideas on how to stop the "jumping" would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Cell Jump After Find and Replace

    Hi MechEst,

I think this just how the Search tool works. You could find a value and then stop the tool to edit it, is the way I would recommend. If the tool stays active then it jumps to the next found.

Re: Cell Jump After Find and Replace

    Hi MarvinP,

    Thanks for your help.

I think I blew the description of the problem. What I'm doing is replacing a formula in the cell with another that is copied from a different spreadsheet. That formula has a different cell reference than the one I need in there for the current sheet. By hitting the Replace button I am able to replace the 20 instances of the old cell reference with the new one. Once replaced, there is no occurrence of the same reference on the active sheet. The spreadsheet is long, and it seems as if it wants to go to the lower or upper part of the screen that is not showing. If I was to turn off the tool before the replace function happened, I would have to manually change each old cell reference to the new one wouldn't I? I think a better description of the problem would be a "screen jump" (from what I'm seeing).

Is this something I can control?

    Thanks again for your help!
