Formula for the percentage of 2 different percentages

    Good Morning,

I am having a problem figuring out a formula (which I guess should be fairly simple) for getting one percentage out of two different markups. For example, if I am manufacturing a widget for $4.56 and I want to increase the price by 4% for material, then increase the price by another 3% for labor, what formula can I create to find out one total percentage cost that would encompass both percentages?

    For example:
    $4.56 plus 4% = $4.7424

    $4.7424 plus 3% = $4.884672

I need one formula to enter the 2 variables (4% and 3%) to come up with one percentage. Thank you.

    do you mean

    =1.04*1.03

which would yield 1.0712 -- which, applied to 4.56, would give you 4.884672

I assume that you might sometimes want to amend the percentages and therefore you want to have them in cells.
If you have them stored as percentages (i.e. 0.04 or 4%) then with the price (4.56) in A2, material percentage (4%) in B1 and labour percentage (3%) in C1, use this where you want the result:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

If you have them just as numbers (i.e. 4 not 0.04) then use this instead:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

The B1 and C1 references are absolute ($B$1 not B1) so that you can drag down/copy as needed.

    Hope that helps.

If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.
