userform based excel workbook -- use on MS Teams or convert to Access

Hi all, hope you all well

that old chestnut of "sharing" a workbook has raised it's head again and begs the question, do I overcome a 20 year old aversion and re-create the workbook in MS Access. For those familiar with both platforms (an admirable achievement) I would appreciate if you could look at the attached workbook and advise as to how near to this excel workbook could be created in Access.

If you spare the time to look right click on opening sheet to access search and order forms.

If this is deemed to be a complex process then I may just sub this out to someone capable at suitable cost.

    Any help appreciated
    Rgds

There's not a lot of info around how the file is used to say for sure, but potentially you could store the data in the "Database" sheet in an actual database, then each user could have their own copy of the Excel file you already have to avoid multi user conflict.

With a little rewrite of the code new records could be sent directly to the database and the other functionality would similarly to how it does now by pulling the data back into the Excel file when needed.

I build Excel tools like this for a living and often use a centralised database on a network to allow multiple simultaneous users.

Hi, thanks for the answer. So it is possible to use the front end in excel and have that read/write to maybe an accces database on the network.
The workbook I attached is simple in functionality

User can search for customer by mobile number or name to see if exists or needs to be added or amended.
pressing order will allow user to select product type and select whether individual items or pallet/crate etc
These orders are sent to a simple "Pending" userform where clusters can be picked from the pending list that maybe close by or have similar product and these picked items sent to a printable delivery sheet for drivers.

The problem occurs when people leave an instance open and it is written over by someone else's actions.
I would appreciate an overview on how the excel front end could read/write to a database and should it be a project you have an interest in then I would appreciate any help.
As I have said if proves too difficult for me alone I would have no problem in paying for an effective solution.

Absolutely. All of the Office apps can 'talk' to each other via VBA so data can quite easily be passed back and forth from Excel to Access.

I'm at work at the moment and cannot upload files from this computer to the forum (network restrictions!) but once I'm finished I shall put together a very simple example of a Excel front end and Access back end for you and we can go from there.
Happy to help out along the way as these projects have a habit of becoming more complicated as you go..
