Sum values in a table by FY

Hello ALL,

I am new to excel and I would like some help please.

Basically I have a table where in column A2 I have sales people and starting from B2 to B28 I have Months in date format. Just above each month cells, I keyed in the respective financial fear so from Cells A2 to A14 I have the value of 21 and from A15 to A28 I have the value of 22. In the table below there all sort values in each month and by sales people.

What I would like to do is sum up the total values falling in each FY by sales person. So I wold total FY 21 and 22 By sales person.

I have tried sumif with index and match but it only picks up the 21 values of the first months (i.e March 21 in cell B2 has 21 in A2 but the formula does not sum April 21 in C2)

I hope it all makes sense.

Thank you so much for the help.

Bruno

Have you looked at possibly using a pivot table for this?

Look at the yellow banner at the top of the post, and upload the sample work sheet WITH expected or desired results.

Without an example it’s difficult to tell what can solve your issue.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook. The workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

One way:

=SUMPRODUCT(('RESOURCE & PRICE EST'!$A$3:$A$40=$A7)*('RESOURCE & PRICE EST'!$B$1:$BI$1=C$5),'RESOURCE & PRICE EST'!$B$3:$BI$40)
