Transform Data to create unique Country entries for each year

    Hello,

I am not sure how to phrase the question to get the exact result I need.
I am constructing a data set and need to create a column for year. The problem is that most of the World Bank data has its years horizontally in multiple years. I would like to automatically create a new row for each country with the respective data. Meaning that there will be multiple entries for each Country but the Year column will differ.
Is there a smart way to do this?

    Best Regards
    Raul

    Raul,

One option would be to use Power Query.

    Thank you for your reply!
Just as quick question as I'm using Power Query for the first time. Which operation should I be using to do this?
It was exactly what I needed by the way.

In case you have not worked with PQ...

Power Query is a free AddIn for Excel 2010 and 2013, and is built-in functionality from Excel 2016 onwards (where it is referred to as "Get & Transform Data").

It is a powerful yet simple way of getting, changing and using data from a broad variety of sources, creating steps which may be easily repeated and refreshed. I strongly recommend learning how to use Power Query - it's among the most powerful functionalities of Excel.
