    Sort by date

    Hi there,

I donīt seem to be able to sort by date in column C. How do I format the cells (I have already tried date but it didnīt work out), so it starts with the month January dates rather than all the first days of the months?!! I have added the Excel-Sheet.

Hope that makes sense. Any help very much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Konnie

    Re: Sort by date

Your dates are stored as TEXT that looks like a date. Select column C. Data/Text to columns/Next/Next/Date/DMY/Finish.

You should then repeat for column D.

    Re: Sort by date

Those "dates" in columns C and D are not recognised by Excel as true dates because the full-stop is not normally used as a delimiter (you should use a forward-slash instead).

You can change them all in one operation by selecting the cells with dates in (C2:D2281), then CTRL-H to bring up the Find & Replace dialogue box and change full-stop ( . ) to forward-slash ( / ) then click Replace All.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete
