I have a spreadsheet where I want to sum a column that has a date entry in the format 01/01/2020 in it. Each date being the date an operation happens. I need to sum the column to determine the number of operations so the column has the potential to have 1200 dates and I want a sum in cell 1201 to count the number of date entries (in other words the number of operations).
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean count rather than sum? If the cells have dates or blanks, you could use COUNT. For example:Formula:
