    Re: Lookup error

Select B2:B5. Do you see the green triangles? They are warning you that something is wrong. Click on the yellow diamond/white bacjground. It tells you that the numbers are stored as text. Select convert to number.

    Re: Lookup error

    Alternatively, use this formula fix:

    =LOOKUP($Q2,VALUE(B$2:$B$6),C$2:C$6)

In future, please use more descriptive thread titles (see our rules). Thanks.

    Re: Lookup error

Mmm. It is an alternative. However, IMHO not an especially good one. If you let your data become riddled with improperly stored values, the problems will just get worse and worse...

    Re: Lookup error

Agreed, Glenn, however sometimes it's a case of not being able to control the format in which data 'lands' in the workbook, so knowing the workarounds can be useful.

Can you explain yours a little more to me Ali? That does not look like the way my mind thinks, but I always like to learn something new. Thanks Ali.

    Re: Lookup error

Thanks Glenn! This spreadsheet is from my previous working spreadsheet. I had to use TEXT instead of numbers because one of my numbers is a double zero (00). In number formatting it converts it to a single 0 so that is why I was using text.
The other thing that doesn't make sense to me is that the other spreadsheet was working. All I did was delete 31 rows below it and then it stopped functioning correctly. Thanks again for your help Glenn!
