Time formatting, looking to add up durations in a column. NOT looking for time of day.

Hello,

I am trying to create a list in Excel with a number of tasks. I would like to assign a time duration to each task, then add up the durations to come up with a total for the column. I am NOT looking to input time of day, simply duration in hours & minutes (I do not care about seconds). Is this possible in Excel?

Even though the times that I entered as hours & minutes (hh:mm), the formula display in the cells shows time relative to 12:00:00 am.

However, when I do a sum of the column in question the total number of hours & minutes is correct.

It is really not clear for me.
But, it may helps you:
If you have time input in A1 like this:
A1=8:00 (=8/24)
B2=A1*24 = 8
