How can I combine sets of data arranged in two columns to a table that can be sorted?

[Before] I have a list of data arranged in the format as below.

    Author A
    Name B
    Category C
    Author 1
    Name 2
    Catergory 3

[After] How can I combine the data as below so I can sort the data.

    Author Name Category
    A B C
    1 2 3

    Many Thanks.
