    Market basket analysis

    Hi all

I'm new on here and really need help, I'm looking how to identify the frequencies of products sold together so I can arrange products closer based on the answers.

The data is quite large and I have played about with it looking for the answer myself and have probably made it worse.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Many thanks.

We might need some indication of what you have already tried and why it did not work.

It is only available to the newer versions of Excel, so I cannot test it. Have you tried the "built in" shopping basket analysis tool? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql...ql-server-2014

Hi and thanks for the reply

I did have what I tried but had to upload this basic sheet, I was just messing and was getting anywhere. I don't have access to the built in tool as I'm at work.

    Re: Market basket analysis

From what I can gather, programming market basket analysis from scratch is quite involved. I'm not sure why being at work would stop you from using this tool. It may be worth the effort to talk to whoever is necessary to get permission or whatever to access the sql tool.

If that really is not possible, here's a tutorial for an older version of Excel describing how to build a market basket analysis spreadsheet: https://people.revoledu.com/kardi/tu...preadsheet.htm
I also see this tutorial using PowerBI https://businessintelligist.com/2017...sing-power-bi/

From there, I also see references to R and Python and some fee-based applications that will do market basket analysis -- if you are not required to use Excel or program your own. Github lists some open source applications in a variety of programming languages, if that is allowed.

However, if you are required to build your own analysis in Excel, I would probably stick with the revoledu link.

It doesn't give me the option to add the tool, thanks for your help.

    Much appreciated
