Input data using index and match?

I have an Index and Match function set up to do a two way search on a table, but is there a way to input data into this table using a similar function?

An INDEX/MATCH formula can retrieve data from somewhere else (i.e. from your table). For the data to get into that table in the first instance, it would have to come from another source - either another table or list (in which case you would have formulae within your table to bring the appropriate data across), or you could type the data manually into the table.

I'm not really sure what you are trying to do, so please give some further details and explanations.
