    Count the Occurrences of a value based on a date in adjacent column

    In column A I have dates, in column B I have text.

    I want to lookup/count the amount of times that text shows up in the current calendar year.

    I have a sample attached.

    Thanks for help on this.

    You can do in a pivot table if that suits.

    In cell B2:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    For this to work you need to remove the ":" after "Red" in cell A2

    Similar to Geoff's.

    Remove ":"
    Put Today's date in cell C1 [Ctrl + ;]

    Then
    Formula: copy to clipboard
