How to have 'Blanks' (in filter) appear on top

    Hi Friends,

When we create a filter in Column, it shows all the unique value in column + (Blanks) if any. The 'Blanks' always appear towards the bottom of the filter and I need to scroll down. How can we have 'Blanks' appear on the top of the filter instead of bottom?

    Thanks,
    Rahul

Filtering doesn't change the order of records. They're in the same order they were before filtering.

    Before

    A
    B
    1
    Hdr1
    Hdr2
    2
    1
    3
    3

After filtering col B for 4s and blanks,

H Shg, I am aware of this . Kindly refer to the screenshot. Is there a way to show filter selection 'Blanks' on top instead of bottom of filter window.Attachment 618911

    I can't open your attachment.

I assume you mean by sorting, not filtering. Excel always sorts blanks to the bottom of a list, irrespective of sort order.

You would need to add a column that test the column of interest for a blank and return a values that causes those rows to sort to the top. Then do a two-way sort with that as the primary column.

The OP is looking to get the checkbox for "Blanks" to appear at the top of the list instead of at the bottom of the list.
I'm looking for the same thing. For my application, I filter out blank cells to see relevant data so scrolling down 100+ entries on the filter list to deselect "Blanks" just uses up extra time.

This article is relevant! Doesn't show a way to change where "Blanks" sits on the filter list but does show a hotkey to jump to it! Type ")" in the search bar for the filter and it filters for everything in enclosed brackets ie. "(Blanks)"

Found on Microsoft Tech Community, article 49875 for Excel, "blank" option to the top of the excel filter options; as accessed on 28June2024.
