Linked text from another sheet if a certain text exists

If you look at the template I uploaded, What I am trying to do is

If Colum E on DV Distro sheet has 374 AW/CC somewhere in that column then I want to copy some of the info from that row to "linked Roster" sheet...the Rank, first name, last name, Title, and Phone number.

To make things a little more complicated, the DV Disro might be sorted differently from time to time, so I need to make sure the reference will always match regardless of the order of DV distro sheet

I know how to do a simple link, but this is a bit more complicated for me.

I placed the formula in the example below.

It's an Index Match Match, it looks at the value you enter and the column headers.

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Re: Linked text from another sheet if a certain text exists

Thank you. I was able to get thigs to work, but I will have to separate the "linked Sheet" and make it its own workbook. I now have two workbooks with renamed sheets.
The master being "Yokota Leadership with Spouses". The other one that needs the linking is "Yokota Leadership with Spouses for distro"

Given this new development, what would my formula look like now? I tried to point it to the new workbook/sheet, but I kept getting an error. Additionally, is there a way without the use of macros to make the new workbook automatically update when it opens?

In addition, when the word "Spouse" appears in column "E", I would like the first name to populate in column "E" on Yokota Leadership with Spouses for distro.

    Hey there,

Sorry for the late response, but i'm usually not on here on the weekends.

Pretty much the only change that has to be made to the old formula is a reference to the workbook.

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Place in B6, drag across to D6 and then down.

For the Spouse formula you can use the following.

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Place in E6 and drag down.

Note that these will only work if "Yokota Leadership with Spouses.xlsx" is open

Not entirely sure with automatically update when opened. If this is about getting the data required to make the formula's work without having the other workbook open, i'm afraid that I don't know of a way of doing this without coding.

Re: Linked text from another sheet if a certain text exists

Thank you so much, and no worries, about the delay. So the formulas you posted do not need to have "Yokota Leadership with Spouses for distro" within the formula? Maybe that's where I went wrong. I will give it a try. I would think there is a way to update the reference without opening up the other excel spreadsheet....but what do I know
