Question Calculating difference between 2 column in Pivot Table

Ok...I need some help to figure this out. I have a pivot table that shows me qty of devices received and qty of devices shipped per day. These column are counts of serial numbers captured not a flay numerical value. I would like to add a column in the pivot table that will subtract the two columns to give me the difference remaining to ship. However, it appears that without going crazy by creating extra columns of data in the source data, because I am using a count of an alpha-numeric value, I cannot use the calculated field feature to add a custom formula to do this math. Is there a way to accomplish this within the pivot table without having to make any modifications to the source data?

I have attached a sample of the data source and have created a pivot table with the calculated field and then have another pivot table with a manual column, which is not part of the pivot table, to the side of the pivot table to show what I would like the pivot table to do and look like.

    Ideas?????

Pivot tables, as you found out, won't let you use a calculated field on a count. You are going to have to use helper columns. For each item in your table enter =1 as a formula. Then you can use this column.

Attached is a segment of a table I use. I needed to do a calculation on the count of SKUs so I created a column called SKU_Count with the formula =1.

One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
