    Scrollbar "sticking"?

    Hi,

Weird issue, maybe! To help explain, I will start with an example.

In a sample spreadsheet, a scrollbar is designed to scroll 1 through 12 in cell A1. If no cell references A1, it works properly. And by properly, I mean when you click on the arrow, it move 1 step.
However, if another cell references A1 (for example, to display that number as a month), the scrollbar begins to "stick" and when you click once, it functions as if you are clicking and holding. Deleting the cell reference fixes the issue.
I thought maybe I had just broken one sheet, but any spreadsheet I open (included downloaded ones) that has this scrollbar/cell/reference relationship functions in this same manner.

If it matters, I'm running Excel 2013 ... but that has been true for at least 2 years and this issue is recent.

Any thoughts to a cause and/or solution?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

Really impossible to say without seeing the issue. Are you able to attach a sample workbook that displays the problem?

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    Re: Scrollbar "sticking"?

I may have discovered a part of the cause, though it still leaves me with questions. It turns out 1 particular spreadsheet is the culprit, and the size of the file is likely the primary factor (its about 20MB). I didn't realize I had this spreadsheet open the entire time. If I delete the table in the spreadsheet, the scrollbar and reference formula work perfectly fine. If I close the spreadsheet (or again just delete the table) any other spreadsheet with a scrollbar and reference formula work.

I tried cutting columns of the table and reduced the size from 20 to 13MB (still too large to share here), but the problem persisted. The strangest part to me is that just removing one simple formula fixes the scrollbar, but removing massive amounts of data doesn't -- only removing all of the data. Bizarre!
