Autoheight and word wrap for text from formula

    Hello

I am not understanding why text wrap wont work for a series of linked cells on my spreadsheet. I have two tabs, "Req Request" (or “RR”) and "Support Rec" (or SR); I have linked SR to RR using the formula “=ReqRequest!C10” and so on for all the desired cells on the SR tab.

The owner of the sheet populates their purchase requests on the RR tab, which then auto-populates the SR tab. The SR tab then has additional columns for entering pricing and purchase order numbers by another user.

Both tabs are set up the same, SR tab just has extra columns. None of the cells are merged or manually formatted.
The issue I am experiencing is, the RR tab will auto-fit row height and text wrap for large descriptions, but the SR tab will not. It’s forcing me to manually text wrap every time.
Is this because the cells on the SR tab are linked to the RR tab? Is my only option to create some kind of macro that forces SR tab to also text-wrap like the linked RR tab?

I have zero clue about macro’s, so hopping to avoid doing that, but I’m obviously missing a step and not sure how to make the SR tab text-wrap automatically like the RR tab does.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks, Katie

Yes, and yes. You can format the cells in SR to wrap text but they will not automatically resize as the text gets bigger.

I can help with the macro but I would like to see your file. If it has private data, replace with phony data.

The paper clip icon does not work for attachments. Instead, under the text box where you type your reply click the Go Advanced button. On the next screen scroll down and click on Manage Attachments, which will show a pop-up window to Select and Upload a file. Then close the window.

Awesome thanks. there is no data in the sheet, you can enter data in the req request tab and see how it operates. I just want everything on the support rec tab to be able to text wrap for longer descriptions and comments.

I have attached the file. thanks for the help.

That's funny. It worked for me. Tell me the specific steps you followed to test it. The code does an autoheight for the SR cell. If that does not work I can update the code to check the length of the text and explicitly set the row height, but that is not an exact science due to the fact it's a proportional font.

Re: Autoheight and word wrap for text from formula

    hi again,

so the test I do is to type in a long description in cell C10 on the ReqRequest tab, and it text-wraps properly, but the linked cell C10 on the Support Rec tab does not mirror the text wrapping, so the full description on the Support Rec tab is cut-off (unless you manually hit text wrap). I want the item descriptions in Column C (and columns L and U) on the support rec tab to auto-fit for long descriptions.

Here is what happens when I do this. Do you have macros enabled?
