    Transposing whole excel sheet.

I have a large excel file. I would like to transpose rows to columns. I select the area and try to transpose but the error is the area is not the same size. I select a single cell. It gives the same error. The file is large and I can not select exactly the same size. What can I do?

Why can you not select the same size?

The only assumption that I can make it that the number of rows you are trying to transpose exceeds the number of columns available. If you are still using excel 2003, I think that was a maximum of 256.

Remember that Excel has many more rows than columns, so it may simply be impossible to transpose your data.

For example Excel 2013 Each worksheet can contain maximum limit of 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns of data.
Excel cannot exceed the limit of 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns.

If your data has 20,000 rows of data, then you cannot transpose it successfully.

It does not have too many rows. 100 or so. But the colummns come as far as "DPN" column.

Where are you trying to paste the transposed range?

Also, which file type are you using, .xls or .xlsx?

I want colums become rows and rows become columns. In the range there are mostly sentences, not too many formulas and some conditional formatting and 2 frozen rows and columns. Its xlsx.

Thanks to all. Now I managed to do it. When I transpose paste I chose a cell out of selected copied area and transpose paste, this time it worked. All the best from here.
