I want to copy cell 2, 3, 6, 8,10,15. So if I click each of those and say copy, only those cells get that copy border, but if I go and paste it in another workbook it pastes the cells between those numbers.

Use [Alt+;] to select only visible cells.
Are you holding CTRL down as you select the cells for copy/paste? IF you do... only the selected cells paste into same/different workbook.
