Filling series with keyboard shortcut

I want to fill serial number using only keyboard

In dummy attached sheet, Bcolumn has 24 entries
I want to insert serial number in A column

If I ctrl+d after entering and selecting A1:A24(using keyboard) , it copies 1 through out

I tried by using formula =A1+1 and then Ctrl+D and then copy paste as values

Is there any quicker/alternate way to achieve this using keyboard?

Put the cursor in the next empty cell, although CTRL C AND CTRL V work just as quick
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

you could also write first two serial no as 1 and 2 then select both of them there will be little square icon at the bottom of selection just double click it!

Re: Filling series with keyboard shortcut

Two that I can think of. One of them has a lot of keystrokes.

1. By formula:
• Select A2:A25 in the example.
• With A2 the active cell type =N(A1)+1
• While holding down Ctrl hit Enter.

I looked this one up on the internet.
2. By Activating the Office access key:
• With 1 already entered in A2
• Select A2:A25.
• Press Alt + E (Activates the office access key)
• Follow with I
• Then S.
• Then Alt + C (to make sure the series is Column)
• The Step value (Alt + S) defaults to 1
• Then Alt + O and enter a number larger than needed ... say 100.
• Hit Enter.
