Prevent user from modifying object while allowing interaction

I have an object that I want to prevent the user from modifying. It's a link to another spreadsheet. I created it like this. On the Insert toolbar,
Insert-Object-Create from File
Navigate to file and select it
Check off Link to file and Display as icon
Click OK

I want the user be able to click on the icon and open the file, but I don't want the to be able to resize or move the icon.

If I protect the sheet, the icon can't be moved or resized, but it's also not clickable. Is there a way to lock the object while still allowing the user to click on it?

Why not insert a shape and add a link to it?

When you protect the sheet the user won't be able to edit/move the sheet but they'll still be able to click it.

I tried that. Our IT department has some kind of policy in effect that blocks hyperlinks when we click on them, whether they're local, on the network, or on the web.

I got it. It was easy enough.

I inserted a shape and assigned it a macro with a Workbooks.Open call
