    Strage Alerts

Lately I had to Force Quit Excel many times. I shall try to fix this with MS.

When I reload Excel I get "strange" Alerts, such as:

The file format of ‘Tax 3.pdf’ don’t match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe. Unless you trust the source, don’t open it. Do you want to open it anyway?

Tucholsky.docx: file format is not valid.

Why these alerts on files (pdf and Word) that have nothing to do with Excel?

    Thank you for any explanation...

    Hi fak,

Is the file you open a .xlsm file that has VBA code behind it?
Does the file you open have any Power Query code in it?

Have you tried to open a NEW file? Do you get the same messages?
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

Do a file search for the mentioned folders and check if any are in the XLSTART folder, move them, if so.

Hi Marvin; thank you for your reply.

The worksheet I am working with is a .xlsm file and contains Macros.

What is a "Power Query code"?

Hi protonLeah. Thank you for your reply.

Where would I find the XLSTART folder? I could not find it when I searched in the Finder.
