#value error with COUNTIFS

Hi all,

I'm back again. I'm still working on the yearly attendance sheet. Thank you to everyone for helping earlier. Now I'm trying to use COUNTIFS to count the number of sick time ("S"). I need to count for just an "S" but also count values of "S.1" (sick .1 hour) up to "S12" (sick 12 hours). This will go in the unexcused sick time box (V5 for January). The formula I'm trying to use is as follows:

COUNTIFS(A8:BL9,">=S.0",A8:BL9,"<=S12")

I'm getting a #VALUE error.

I'm I overlooking something, is my formula wrong, or am I approaching this all wrong? Thank you again for any help

What is S then - 1 day?
So S1 is one hour?
S12 is 12 hours? - is this regular time for work? Then S12 is also equal to S if S is one day?

What will be your expected count? maybe add other sample data...

...confirmed by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer.

We have both 8 hr shifts (S by itself equals 8 hours) and 12 hour shifts (S12). I need to be about to count S , S.1, S.2, S.3....all the way up to S12

I'm counting FMLA as SF, so unfortunately "S*" would count SF and I need to count it seperately =(

I tried it, did the Shift+Control+Enter. Not counting any sick time =(
