I've created a spreadsheet all the same to use to aid me in running the bass tournament that I run. I've been working on it again this year to make it even more useful and easy for me to use. But I've run into a snag here and I don't even really know what to call what I'm looking for so I can't look it up myself like I have been doing with everything else. I'm pretty dang good at cutting and pasting formulas and editing the cell numbers to get the result I need. So let me show you what I'm working on. This is a small section of my spreadsheet that will be used for the results for the first tournament for this year. I fudged the numbers so that it would be easy for me to see what is going on with them.

I enter the name only the one time as it will carry across all the dates we will be fishing. Then I enter the big fish weight and total weight for each angler that fished. In the points column the points are figured by comparing your weights percentage compared to who had the highest weight for the day. The most weight will always show 100 points and everyone else will be awarded their points based on what percentage of the highest weight they had. But I'm working on adding the top 5 anglers section because I often have upwards of 50 or 60 anglers and going down the list sometimes I miss something and once last year I skipped someone who should of gotten a paycheck. So I really want this fixed right. I have a formula that almost works.
=INDEX(B:B,MATCH(LARGE(E:E,1),E:E,FALSE),)&" With "&LARGE(D:D,1)&" Pounds"
My problem is with the tie and that's been a Hugh problem for me through out my time running these tournaments. Esp. when it comes to working on this spreadsheet. The way it is now it shows me that there are two anglers with 40 pounds but only returns the one name. I could get by with a way to just show me the second name of those two angles so I could then scroll down and look up who had the biggest big fish. As that is what I use to resolve a tie. But it would be really sweet if I had a formula that would check the big fish size and give the one with the largest fish the highest placement on the list.
I would be most grateful for any help. But understand that I need you to draw me a map, sort of anyway. I'm self taught with excel over the last 3 years and have never used it before attempting to do this, so I really don't understand the terminology that you are likely to be used to using.
This is my first time posting on any excel forum also. So I hope my run on speech is not a problem. I tend to do that allot of that sense I've been on disability for 12 years and really don't have crap to do this time of year or anyone to talk to.
Thanks again.
Ron
Edited so I can put in the picture of the area I'm working with. I had typed it in but all the spaces got removed from columns. That should show you how much a beginner I really am. Don't even know how chat boards work and I have one on my tournament website. lol
