Disappearing Plots In Scatter Chart ?

    Hello,

Really tried, but just cannot figure out what is wrong.
Using latest Excel version on iMac.

Simple spreadsheet. Just a column of dates and some blood pressure readings next to the dates.

Can get it to plot up fine.

But- if I do a Select Chart Data for only the dates with their blood p readings, plots fine.

If I select Select Chart Data for the future, with additional rows that I don't have any data for yet, it presents a totally blank chart. (lots of older reading also selected, but they also won't plot).

The axes are formatted large enough such that they should have no trouble showing any/all of these blank lines when filled in.

The reason I would want to select a larger date range is so that whenever I add any new date, the chart updates
automatically, and I don't have to do another Select Chart Data to encompass this new date and its blood pressure readings

What am I, as usual, doing wrong ?
I had no problem doing this when I used an older 2007 Excel on a windows pc. (now on a new iMac)

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Re: Charting Question Please ?

    Can't see,can't tell.

Will you please attach a SMALL sample Excel workbook (10-20 rows of data is usually enough)? Please don't attach a picture of one (no-one will want to re-type all your stuff before starting).

    1. Make sure that your sample data are truly REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential information is removed first!!

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells. They cause lots of problems!

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment. So, to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    Re: Charting Question Please ?

Please take a moment to re-read forum rule #1 and then amend your thread title to something that better explains your problem. Changing your thread title is not optional, which means you must change it. Thanks!

    • Use concise, accurate thread titles.
    • Your post title should describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.
    • Use terms appropriate to a Google search - poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice tell us nothing.
    • Responding to a request to change your thread title by doing so is mandatory.

To change a title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title.

No help to be offered, please, until the OP complies with this request.
