Missing all info above the grid box

Somehow when I open EXCEL i ONLY see the grid box. Only displays the grid chart which includes all the cells - NOTHING above the column headings (A,B,C,D etc.t. no place to see the text I've written, etc. etc. etc. Please help. Thanks.

I'm sorry..........I didn't make myself clear. I can see what is called the "ribbon bar", but can't see anything ABOVE IT, i.e. can see the column headings "A B C D etc.", but nothing above it.

As I said, I see NOTHING ABOVE the column ribbon showing column A, B, C etc.
Here are 2 screenshots. NOTE: I can't see any sign on this Reply window to show that I have actually attached the 2 jpeg screenshots. The attachment process I used was: Opened Manage Attachment > Upload Files from computer > found the 2 files on my computer using Browse > clicked the higher "UPLOAD" button on right of window > observed the 2 uploaded files in the middle of screen > closed the window via the "Close this window" in upper right of screen > saw "do you want to close this TAB" message > clicked "YES" > thereby, returned to message window (but didn't see any sign that there was any attachments > clicked "submit reply" .....hope attachments are there.......

Q2: When I open Excel, I seen the "normal" opening page as shown on the attached screenshot. When I open ANY FILE I ONLY SEE a "grid", the top of which is
the "column headings" ribbon showing column headings A B C D E etc.,.............and the right side of which is the "row headings" ribbon showing
from top down, 1 2 3 4 etc. exactly what is shown on my two previous screenshots.

Q3: the IS NO "MAIN EXCEL WINDOW" - only the "grid" I've described.

Q 4: If I understand you right, YES, they are "on their own. NOTE: when I have an open excel window (grid only), when I click on the "+" at the bottom to the right of "Sof the
screen, it moves to "SHEET 1" - it moves to "SHEET 2", etc. and each of those sheets are identical to the previous one (except of course, they have no writing/numbers like
SHEET 1 has.

NEW QUESTION: All of my files are either in the 2004 version or the 2016 version. You can see that on the Opening Page screenshots where some file icons
have a "dark background white X" = 2016 version, and "white background dark X" = 2004 version.

Is there a way to somehow "convert" every old version file to a new version file ??????????

Just noticed you 2-8-17 reply. It doesn't help now because I can't see "VIEW" or any of the normal excel screen about the 'A - B - C etc. ribbon.

QUESTION: Since no one seems to have an answer for this problem, can't I just somehow reinstall Excel to fix this problem???? I bought OFFICE
- home and student edition within the last 6 months. I have the "purchase card" with the 25 letter/number code............ OK?

1. Clearly it's not a "can't view the whole screen" problem. When I've opened Excel clicking on the Excel icon on the ?? Taskbar (I think it's called),it
opens to the green Excel homepage very nicely. However, no matter what excel saved file I click on, the correct file opens BUT it ONLY shows the "grid" (a b,
c etc.ribbon at the top, and 1 2-3 etc. ribbon along the left side of the grid.
2. I followed your instuctions and firstly did a "Quick Repair" = no help - no change; and then did a "complete repair" (not sure of name, repair using the I/N.
It finished and then it said something like "click here to "activate'? all apps" but I couldn't find where to click.
Now my Excel and Word icons are gone from the Taskbar and I can't locate those icons using Windows Explorer... Should I do another Complete Repair and try it
again? or are the Excel and Word icons somewhere on my computer and I can use them to open them?

Sorry to be such a pain.........I appreciate any help anyone can give.

As I've said, I have absolutely nothing above the column heading ribbon (i.e. A - B - C - D ETC), so I can't click on VIEW bec I can't see it. When I use CNTR+SHFT >>>F1 by itself on any
of my available excel screens, nothing changes.

1. Another thought: About 1/2 of my excel files are v. 2000 and 1/2 are v. 2016. Is there a way I can "update/ or whatever" all of my v. 2000 files into
v. 2016? That would be nice. Just perhaps that impacts my current "missing info" problem..........

2. I've tried several times to repair using the I/N full repair version, but to no avail. I'd like to "update" (see above) my v. 2000 files before trying
to completely reinstall Excel. Any suggestions?

HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S FIXED!!!!! Apparently my 3 attempts to "Repair by Internet" actually worked!!! Thanks all for your wise advice.

QUESTION: About 1/2 of my excel files are from v. 2000 and 1/2 from v. 2016. Is there some way to "upgrade, or whatever" the v. 2000 files so they ALL are v. 2016 files?
