    Chess player prediction Excel Help

Hello, I am having difficulty finding the best way to setup my workbook to make a prediction based on historical data.
I am an avid chess player and I track all my games with office documents with Excel and Access. I would like to find a way to set this up in Excel to make a predication for the next game to be played.

    The historical data is:
    1. Dates game played
    2. Results
    3. Side played
    4. Point result from the game

Excel 2016 is the version I have.

Do you have any information on how you would like to predict your chess matches? The main system I am aware of of (though not proficient in it) are Elo type rating systems that seem to be very common in Chess groups: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELO_ranking

User shg posted a spreadsheet that implements an Elo system in this thread: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-gen...lo-rating.html Perhaps that will give you some ideas how to implement your desired prediction system.

My initial thought was to make the prediction solely based on timeline, side played and game result. I failed to consider elo and that is something that needs to be considered because my initial prediction system is so simple it will not be accurate for the reality of chess play. Elo is never static for what I am applying it too because I play against a new person each time I play a new game. This also goes to explain why my attempts before using Excel to make a prediction system failed.

I already have an active database I use for this so I'll go back to the drawing board. Thanks for the response!
