Assuming you have data in flat table structure as recommended by 63falcondude.
I'd also recommend utilizing PivotTables and Pivot Chart along with slicers to connect multiple pivot tables & charts.
Using those, you can do away with most formulas used to summarize data and create dashboard quickly.
My two cents on Pie chart... unless you have 5 category or less and there is no need for comparison over time, don't use them, it's usually better to use horizontal bar chart, water fall chart, panel chart etc.
Also avoid use of 3d charts, they add no meaning to data and detracts from what's being presented.
