I've got a worksheet, I've got a rfid scanner connected that should be able to scan cards - but I dont want anyone to manually write in it - is it possible to lock it like that?

The only way this or something like it would be possible is via a macro. essentially it would unlock the sheet, write information and lock when the macro is triggered. In my opinion not a very good way to go about it. You would be better off simply unlocking it manually, scanning stuff and locking it at the end when complete.

In my experience scanners that write to Excel are doing exactly the same as if you were to type it in manually. Think of the scanner as another keyboard. I don't think that there is any way to distinguish between the two.
Design everything to be as simple as possible, but no simpler.
