Formula for IF / OR

Hi there,

I have a column which returns one of three things: Not Started, In Progress, Complete.

I want the cell adjacent to have a formula which says something like If A2="Not Started",1. If A2="In Progress",2. If A2="Complete","".

This is so I can apply a traffic light conditional formatting based the cells value being 1 2 or blank.
