linking message about source not being recalculated

    Hi

I have three interlinked workbooks that open happily in Excel 2007 on my desktop and also on Excel 2007 on a colleague's desktop.

Another colleague is using Excel 365 and always gets the warning about one of the source workbooks not being recalculated.

Although I am running manual calculation on the source workbook in question I have enabled recalculate before saving.

So, as far as I can work it out, the source is recalculated.

Any thoughts on this? Is it due to the difference in Excel versions? Or a change of a global setting that is needed on my colleague's machine?

    Hi

The calculation status is set at the application level.
What often happens is if the first workbook your colleague opens in an Excel session, i.e. one other than the one you're talking about, AND if that first workbook is set to be calculated manually then the manual Calc status applies to all workbooks that are subsequently opened in that session until the calc status is changed. i.e. it's not a workbook setting but an application setting.

You should include a Workbook Open Event macro in your workbook and make that set the calculation to Automatic so that your colleagues Application will always be reset to Automatic.

Hi Richard - I had an application in the workbook.open that set calc to manual so I've moved it below the point at which the other workbooks are opened - this should allow them to re-calc if necessary before calc is set to manual - hopefully this should fix it - I've sent an exercise to the 365 user to see how it goes.
